Hi, I’m Meredith, the founder of Ope & Fable. I started this store with a simple idea: to create a space that celebrates the best of Iowa—its makers, its stories, and its community spirit.Growing up in Greene County, Iowa, I was surrounded by hard work, creativity, and a deep sense of local pride. Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate just how much talent and heart exists right here in our own backyard. That’s why every product on our shelves is made by Iowa producers—from hand-poured candles and locally raised produce to one-of-a-kind crafts and delicious small-batch foods.

Alongside that, I’ve always been a book lover. So, this store is also an independent bookstore—because I believe that books can bring people together, spark new ideas, and remind us of who we are.
